Mexico IX - Valle de Bravo

After seeing the butterflies we drove through Valle de Bravo to this lovely little town. We ate at a restaurant overlooking the lake and terracotta rooftops. It felt much more like Europe than Mexico. The kids loved exploring the markets in town (Michoacan) and eating ice cream at a plaza in the centro. I think the pictures speak for themselves.
(Am I posting too many pics? What do you want to see, more of the kids, or more of the sights? Feedback is appreciated!)

Mexico VIII - Monarch Butterfly migration

We drove west to see an area where Monarch butteries migrate each years. They spend 3-4 months in this regions and their are hundreds of acres of butterflies. As this area is protected we were not able to get as close as we would have liked. We rode horses for about 30 minutes up a mountain to get to the vista point. I was a little nervous going up the steep path, especially because I had baby Timothy on my lap, and Julianna, Alexandra, & Matilda were all on their own horses. The kids actually enjoyed the horse ride more than the view of the butterflies. In the photos, you can see the orange on the trees, and these are butterflies. It was a cool morning so they were huddling together to stay warm. There were still several along the path and fluttering around the trees. This was pretty amazing to see so many butterflies in one spot.

I sure hope these horses don't get SPOOKED!
